Hash, 9 April
by Lucy
It was was bound to be an odd hash.
-- arranging the start location to coincide with folks picking up race packets
for a marathon.
The motley crew showed up on a
lovely June day in April.
We started drinking between a bar
and a frat house. Laclede Street Bar was closed but Frat-land was already in
full swing at 3. Ricky and Help Me just made appearance. Help Me didn't leave
until she helped with diplomatic contact with the frat house.
On trail, Fake Bake and Ice
Princess had put us going right through the crowds of runners going to the
Fitness Fest at Chaifetz. How appropriate.
The FRB's to the Runner/Walker
split were $5, F Me Rudolph, and myself. After discussion, it looked like I was
doing the runner's trail alone. Going towards the second check, Postage and Rudy
joined me.
We passed 3+ brew pubs going
through downtown, then back to Powell Hall for the beer stop -- much after the
walkers. Basically, we had followed a good part of the Half Marathon trail --
but in afternoon heat.
After a short stop, the walkers
walked, and Postage, $5 and I did the rest of the runners' trail. With the other
two getting lost on the way to the end.
During circle, a couple of frat
folks joined us and were impressed with our singing. When we finally got the
bar, the pack ran off the few younger folks in the place, and we took it over in
the twilight.
Yeah, that's all I
got.
