The BH4 runs every Wednesday, at 7:00
PM. The 2nd and 4th Saturdays of the month are optional and begin at 3:00 PM (5:00 PM in summer)
There are periodical special occasions as well. BH4 runs will normally be conducted
within about a 50 mile radius from the St. Louis Gateway Arch, on both sides of the
Mississippi River--or where ever the hare(s) decides to set trail. Occasionally the BH4
does road trips where it exceeds the 50 mile boundry. The BH4 gives out whistles for namings and headbands for
significant run acheivements 10, 25, 50, 69, 100, 125, 150, 200, 250, 300, 400, 500, 600,
690, 700, 800, 900, and 1000, etc... The Big Hump also provides quality beer at the
start, beer stops and at the circle for members drinking on the side lines. However, down
down beer may be shitty beer.
So, come out and join us real soon! It's open to everyone
and it only takes half of a mind to participate.
The BH4 runs were originally only conducted on Wednesday evenings
to accommodate people who can't normally make weekend hashes and / or for those who depend
upon hashing for exercise, and want to work out / hash more than once per week. Some
people find it hard to get out and run without having a bunch of hashers out there with
them and only running on weekends isn't enough for them. On October 9th,
1999, the BH4 started conducting runs on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of each
month, opposite Saturdays to when the Bell-Scot H3 runs. On March 22, 2006 the BH4 went to optional Saturdays. If a hasher volunteers to hare a trail on a Big Hump Saturday, it is treated as any traditional trail.
St. Patrick's Day Green Dress Run
St. Patrick's Day is a big deal in St. Louis, with parades and races and all kinds of goings-on. We like to celebrate this day hasher-style, by running around downtown in our most festive green dresses. The weekend-long event includes a Friday night social, followed by drinking and debauchery into the wee hours in the morning at a lucky downtown hotel. Saturday morning, the racists among us rise early for the official St. Patrick's Day Run. THe rest of us straggle out of bed and into our tight green gowns in time for a 3pm hash. This is followed by a great, loud circle and an on-after with food, beer, karaoke, beer, dancing, and beer. Those of us still standing head back to the same lucky hotel for the on-after-after. Finally, on Sunday we stagger through a hangover hash put on by the St. Louis Hash House Harriers.
Join us this year for the 5th Annual Green Dress Run, also the 5th Anniversary of the Big Hump. (Bring us some wood for an anniversary gift.)
Campout Weekend
The Annual Campout / Float / will be held August 25, 26 & 27th.
